Monday #781

To badly misquote June Bride from Seven Brides for Seven Brothers – April showers will come so they say, and they did, and they haven’t stopped even though it’s May. I hope the next line – You’re about to forget the whole thing, all at once, one day it’s spring comes true.  I’m fed up of wearing jumpers and boots all the time! And not being able to put washing out or go to the park after school. It’s not that it’s raining all the time, but it’s just very unpredictable and chilly.

Letters to Enid part 83

and

Five Go Off in a Caravan as watched by Fiona and Stef

(I know this was supposed to go up last week but I kept procrastinating over sitting down to remove all the date/time stamps and reformatting it all so I could then correct all the typos and make it make at least some sort of sense.)

There could be up to two sequels to the Magic Faraway Tree film coming in the next few years.

In the UK the film has made around $20 million and in Australia another $7.2 million, and it’s yet to be released in the US. (Apparently it even out performed Disney/Pixar’s Hoppers and Paddington 1 and 2 in Australia)

According to this article from Deadline the producers believe the natural next step is to develop the other books into films to capitalise on the success of the first, and to get more out of all the money they spent on props and sets.

I wouldn’t hold my breath given how long they spent promising us the first film (though they said in the article they also spent 20 years trying just to get the rights!) but I’d imagine they’d want to move quickly before the child actors get too old.
